Today we cut the ribbon on the brand new Theatre for a New Audience Polonsky Shakespeare Center, a huge addition to the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural district. Julie Taymor’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream opens November 2.
Lakeside Center at Prospect Park is Archtober’s Building of the Day! Tour the state-of-the-art ice rinks this afternoon from 3 - 4 pm.
Happy Birthday, Lady Liberty!
The Statue of Liberty turns 127 today. What better way to celebrate than by welcoming visitors back to the place where:
"huddled masses yearning to breathe free’ first came to our shores.”
Also, for the first time since Hurricane Sandy, Ellis Island reopens today after suffering significant damage from the storm. Visitors will be able to tour the main floor of the Ellis Island Museum and the Great Hall, but a few exhibits will remain closed while repairs continue.
